Grannies Glasses....

not sure why, but they were a hit....someone had these glasses out and Ella found them and thought she needed to wear them. And of course Spenser had to try them out too!
It was just an all around good day!

A little while later...

After the Breakfast we all went home to do our own thing.....WE WERE SO BORED at home, and I insisted that since it was a holiday, a party was in order. SO, we basically invited ourselves over to Mom's, brought over some food, ran to the store to get the stuff Dad needed to make ice cream ( we have NEEDS, people!) and had ourselves a good old Memorial Day barbecue. It was so nice. We played a crazy game of 'pickle' and some catch! The kids really got into it.....and Grampa....my gosh, he will play with those kids ALL day, whether or not it is 100 degrees and 100% humidity. He is so good to them. They are lucky kids for sure!

Memorial Day

I am so glad Mom was able to talk me into going to our Ward breakfast.....What a fabulous presentation they put on. It was at Adam-Ondi-Ahman. They had the VFW come and explain the meaning of each fold in the flag, as they folded it. They did a 21 gun salute and a bugler played taps. It was beautiful. I am pretty sure that everyone there got chills....anther really neat thing they did was try to honor our ancestors if they were veterans. They mentioned each one by name and it was beautiful. It was amazing the hush that came over that place as we were all gathered there to honor them. What a wonderful thing to be a part of, and a great reminder to be thankful for our Freedom! God Bless America!

I promise....

I will be better about blogging. Life is getting ready to get REALLY busy, which means I will probably have more to say than just "ya, I have been busy cleaning, blah, blah, blah!!" plus I will have a really good excuse to take pictures...and I always like that! :)

So this is my run down of what I am looking forward to...

Tomorrow, Memorial Day! I am looking forward to our ward breakfast they are putting on in honor of veterans....(i wasn't going to go, but Mom gave the speech about supporting our leaders, and ward activities....so we are going!!)

DENVER!!! We leave early Thursday morning!! Yahoo!! I am so excited to see everyone!! Grama and Grampa Mason, Jan, Natalie, Tara, Rosie....all y'all! Can't wait to chat it up at the reunion!! I NEED a vacation, too!! And the kids....holy cow. Denver is ALL they have been talking about for two months, at least!! ( i do love that they love to go!!)

swim team....It is going to be insanely hectic, but I think it will be so great for the kids! I am all about filling their time with good, healthy activities, too!!

Katie's play! It is really going to be a good time! She had her first practice on Friday night, and I just know she is going to LOVE it! She is one of the King's Children....this week they practiced the 'bowing to the King, and to Anna' and next week they are doing the choreography for the 'getting to know you' song!! It is so fun to see her up there. I can't wait for the performance!! It will be the last weekend in July!

Josh and Amanda....coming for a visit. SOMETIME this summer!!! You better! :)

Alan...when are you going to come see me!!? I really want to look forward to that too!!

what a difference....

a year makes!! I was going through 'old' pictures and I happened to notice these are almost a year ago....(by less than a week!) I am constantly surprised at how time flies, but it is hard for me to grasp how much they/ we all change in such a short time! It makes me really glad that I have a camera and can capture a tiny bit of how things are, when they happen. I found out a long time ago that the things we think we will NEVER forget, eventually are forgotten. How lucky we are that we have the capability to preserve some of the memories of our families. I believe it is our obligation to do that for our children. If not with photographs at least with journals.....what do you think!??! It makes me want to be better at capturing the 'real' life moments....the ones that really show who we are and how we've evolved! hmmm, so much to think about!! :)

Schools out, for summer!!

No way! It can't be!??! Today was the last day of school for my kids! I can't believe it is already time for that! We have completely skipped Spring, and now I am supposed to believe it is summer? Crazy....so, yes...I will get used to the idea. We are going to be extremely busy, which is how i like it, I guess. Annie and Jared are going to be doing Swim Team. They practice everyday, and I will still be dragging the kids to the gym in the mornings....it is going to be fun! :)

WOW!!

Annie came home with the award for the most words read this entire school year. She has read 3,035,008 words for the year which averages to around 17,343 words per school day! Holy smokes!! That Girl loves reading....just like her Daddy! :) This is not counting all the reading she does at home before bed and on the weekends! And she also got the award for the most AR points for the year! Annie, good job. I am so proud of you!

thank you...

for putting up with my 'complete' coverage of Caleb and Erin's day. This was for the family that wanted to be there, but weren't able to. We love you all and missed you! We know you would have been here if you could! I hope this was thorough enough....if you'd like to see more.....uh, wait till the family reunion. Gosh. I have to stop somewhere! :)
